Where Origami King makes combat more into an action-oriented puzzle, old-school Paper Mario games were deeper role-playing games with light action elements. It goes a long way in making you fall in love with the place, as the world seems more worthy of your time and worthy of exploration beyond what's immediately expedient.Paper Mario: The Origami King is a pretty good game in its own right, but let’s be real: It’s been years since we’ve had a game that captures the magic of the first two titles in the Paper Mario series. Just add more secrets and make the world capable of holding them. If they ever make a second game, those would really be my only complaints. ![]() This is really discouraging for secret finders, as you are immediately made aware that the world simply isn't collision modeled to actually handle something that's taken for granted in every paper mario game, and therefore the world feels a bit more hollow and lacking in secrets and polish.
